Places of Worship

There are currently more than 140 faith communities in Thurston County.

Lacey is also home to various faith based schools, such as Faith Lutheran (Elementary to Middle School) and Foundation Campus, which includes Community Christian Academy (Pre-school to Middle School) and Northwest Christian High School. Lacey will also be the home for the future Pope John Paul II High School.

Police

The Lacey Police Department prides itself in excellent customer service and Lacey's crime rate being below the state average. This is due in part to the professionalism and tenacious pursuit of criminals by the officers and also by the willingness of citizens to get involved and report criminal activity.

In any successful community, the police and citizens work together to ensure safety. This partnership has proven successful many times in the past and continues to be an important piece of the safety and security that we all enjoy.

The department attends may community functions and educational opportunities, and also offers many programs including volunteer programs to get community members involved.

Postal Service

The main U.S. Postal Office serving Lacey is located at 5815 Lacey Blvd. SE. Hours are 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday 9:30 am to 3 pm.

Timberland Regional Library

The Lacey library began as a book-mobile in 1966, moved into rented space in Market Square, and then expanded to 4,800 square feet in the Lacey Village Shopping Center in 1976.

A new 20,000 square foot library adjacent to Lacey City Hall opened in March of 1991.

Transit

Intercity Transit, Thurston County's public transportation agency, serves Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and Yelm.

Service includes:

  • 22 regular bus routes
  • Vanpool and carpool programs
  • Dial-A-Lift for people with disabilities
  • Trip planning and free one-on-one travel training to learn how to ride the bus
  • All buses have bike racks and accessible features
  • Intercity Transit also offers express service between Olympia, Lacey, Lakewood, and Tacoma where passengers can connect to Sound Transit for service to Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport.
  • And links to other neighboring transit systems - Mason Transit, Grays Harbor Transit and Amtrak train service at Centennial Station.
